A Melbourne court has been told a senior Hells Angel bikie
threatened to kill a 62-year-old woman during a dispute over a shih tzu
terrier.
Peter "Skitzo" Hewat, the sergeant-at-arms of the Hells Angels East County chapter, has been charged with dozens of offences, including aggravated burglary and assault.
The charges stem from an argument over the dog's ownership.
The Melbourne Magistrates Court was told the grandmother was punched in the face over a dispute involving his lost dog.
The court was told she tried to find the dog's owners after it appeared at her home in December last year.
She told the court she was not convinced the dog belonged to the Hewats when she first made contact with them.
But she returned the dog to the couple after a local vet confirmed the shih tzu terrier belonged to them.
Allegations of intimidation, threats
She told the court that her returning the dog did not put an end to the matter.
It is alleged Hewat then embarked on a three-month campaign of intimidation, including threatening phone calls, cars driving past her house and damage to her property.
This culminated in Hewat allegedly punching her in the face when he fronted at her house in March.
"He said to my [late] husband: 'Can your control your wife?'" she told the court.
"I told him to get off our property, and he said: 'I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to your husband. I warned you once, I warned you twice', and then he closed his fist and punched me in the face."
The 62-year-old also said Hewat threatened to kill her on at least one occasion, and tried to smash the windows and security door to her home.
Woman admits to frightening Skitzo's wife
The woman admitted sending profanity-laden text messages, but denied lying about having received abusive texts from Hewat.
Under cross examination, she corrected a number of details contained in statements she gave police, and frequently said she was unable to remember details of her confrontations with the Hewats.
The alleged victim also admitted frightening Hewat's wife by following her in her car, taking a photo of her car and noting down its registration.
Hewat was arrested days after the alleged assault.
The bikie is also facing drug-possession charges and stolen-property charges after police searched his Craigieburn towing company when he was arrested for the alleged assault.
Hewat's committal hearing returns to the courts in late October.
